  • INTRODUCTION

STV Central Limited is the Channel 3 Public Service Broadcaster, which broadcasts in Central and North Scotland. We are the largest multi-media platform in Scotland.

Our STV Player platform offers a wide range of TV and On-Demand programme services. The platform is primarily an On Demand Programme Services for STV Central Limited which gives viewer access to STV Regional and Channel 3 Network programmes as well as a variety of acquired programme content from various sources on-demand. STV Player also consists of an EPG Service which gives viewer access to live (simulcast) TV Channels including our own STV and STV+1 Channels and a small number of niche TV channels that we believe our viewers would engage with and enjoy.

  • OFCOM EPG CODE

STV is required to comply with Ofcom's Code of Practice on Electronic Programme Guides (Ofcom’s Code : https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0031/19399/epgcode.pdf), which requires STV to publish and comply with an objectively justifiable method of allocating listings to the channels. This document sets out STV’s policy for listing Channels with in the EPG Service.

  • EPG SERVICE TERMS

The STV Player EPG Service listings are available on our website (https://player.stv.tv/channels) and the terms for the broadcast of licensed services or connected services (as defined in section 316 of the Communication Act 2003) are agreed on a simple first come first served basis.

In accordance with the Ofcom Code and section 310(2) of the Communications Act 2003, EPG Services are required to give certain designated public service broadcasting (‘PSB’) Channels ‘appropriate prominence’ in allocating an EPG listing to their public service linear television channels (“PSBs”). The STV PSB Channels will therefore be listed (displayed) first followed by the non STV Channels which are displayed in chronological order from the date of agreement.

STV is under no obligation to engage with other Channels, and where it does so, STV will apply this EPG Policy in line with its regulatory obligations, in a way which provides most benefit to its viewers, and STV will ensure its approach is objectively justifiable. STV Player may consider engaging with new niche Channel providers of its choosing to extend our EPG Service from time to time. Selection and consideration will be on the basis of the likely interest to our viewing audience.

  • CHANGES TO THIS EPG POLICY

STV will review this Policy from time to time and will consult with the existing listed broadcasters at least at least one month prior to any changes to this EPG Policy becoming effective, unless the relevant changes to the Policy are not significant.

This EPG Policy is effective from 01 June 2020.
