Freeview Play devices (Vestel 2016)

To ensure we provide the best possible streaming experience and the latest features, STV Player periodically updates its technical requirements.

Following the release of Freeview Play version 5.3.3, STV Player will no longer be supported on Vestel 2016 television models and set-top boxes.

Why is my device no longer supported?

As technology evolves, newer versions of the STV Player app require more advanced operating systems and hardware processing power. Unfortunately, Vestel 2016 models do not have the hardware capabilities required to run the latest version of our service (v5.3.3) effectively.

How to check if your device is affected

You can verify if your TV or set-top box is a Vestel 2016 model by checking your unique Device ID. Follow these steps:

  • Open the Explore Freeview Play app (find it on Channel 100 or in your device's Apps List).

  • Select Help & Settings.

  • Select Get Help.

  • Look at the Device ID displayed in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

  • If the Device ID contains "V16", your device is a 2016 model and will no longer support the STV Player app.
Note: If your Device ID does not contain "V16," your service should continue as normal.
