Video may pause during playback if your device does not meet the supported specification below, or if your Internet connection is not fast enough. Even on broadband connections, Internet congestion or traffic can result in choppy playback or repeated buffering.


Some tips for improving playback:


  • Make sure your broadband and WiFi speeds are fast enough to cope with streaming video. 
  • Try closing other apps and programs to free up memory on your device, turning a device off and on again can help free up resources.
  • Make sure your operating system (OS) is up to date.
  • Check you are using the most recent versions of your internet browser or STV Player app (if installed).
  • Check you can meet the minimum specifications below.




Windows:

  • Operating System: Windows 7; Windows Vista; Windows XP: Service Pack 1 or higher; Windows 10
  • CPU: P3 or better
  • Speed: 1Ghz or better
  • RAM: 1GB (minimum), 2GB (recommended)
  • Free Disk Space: 500 MB (minimum), 1 GB (recommended)
  • Internet Connection: Broadband (minimum), 2048kbps or greater (recommended)
  • Browser: An up to date version of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

Mac:

  • Operating System: MacOS X: 10.5 and higher
  • CPU: Any Intel processor
  • Speed: 1.33 GHz or better
  • RAM: 1GB or better
  • Free Disk Space : 500 MB (minimum), 1 GB (recommended)
  • Internet Connection: Broadband (minimum), 2048kbps or greater (recommended)
  • Browser: An up to date version of Chrome, Firefox or Safari



iPhone/iPad:

  • iPhone and iPad - you will need iOS9 or above to benefit from the latest features and to watch STV Live. 
  • For STV Player+ we recommend iOS10 or above.


Android:

  • Android phones and tablets - you will need Android 4.4 or above to benefit from the latest features and to watch STV Live.
