Offline Downloads

 As part of your STV Player+ or STV Player+ with Premier Sports subscription, you can download your favourite shows and watch them offline on the go. Currently, this feature is only available via our STV Player iOS app (Apple iPhone or iPad).
 

 

How do I download a show?

To download shows to your phone or tablet, you must:
  • Be an STV Player+ subscriber using an iOS device (Apple iPad or iPhone).
  • Have an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or above.
  • Log in to your STV Player account with an active subscription (either STV Player+ or STV Player+ with Premier Sports).
To download an episode:
  1. Navigate to the programme page.
  2. Tap the download icon (arrow) on the right-hand side to start the download.
Note: By default, downloads are enabled via WiFi only. You can enable downloads via Mobile Data (e.g., 5G) by navigating to Settings > Downloads in the app.

 

Why does it take a few minutes for my downloads to start?

If you haven’t downloaded anything recently, it may take a few minutes for the first item to begin downloading. Once the initial download starts, subsequent downloads will commence immediately.
 

 

Why can’t I download a show?

We strive to make as many shows available for download as possible. However, there are instances where certain shows or movies cannot be downloaded due to licensing agreements. These restrictions are typically related to permissions from the production house.
 

Additional Information:

  • Downloads expire after 7 days or on the programme’s normal expiry date — whichever comes first.
  • Content with forced advertisements are not available for download. For a full list of content with forced ads, click here.

 

Why has my download failed?

If your download is failing, please check:
  • Paused Download: Ensure you haven’t accidentally paused the download. Tapping the download icon will pause or resume the download.
  • Device Storage: Verify that your device has enough space to save the show.
  • Battery Level: Ensure your device isn’t low on battery or in Low Power Mode. Plugging your device into a charger can help.
  • Network Connection: Ensure you are connected to a fast and stable WiFi network. A poor data connection can cause downloads to pause.

 

Where can I find my downloads?

To access your downloads:
  1. Log in to the STV Player app where you initiated the downloads.
  2. Select the Downloads option from the navigation bar at the bottom of the app.
  3. If you’re in offline mode, select the Go to Downloads option from the main screen.

 

Additional Notes:

  • Downloads are stored locally on your device and cannot be accessed outside the app or transferred.
  • Ensure your device has sufficient storage space to accommodate downloads.
  • To delete a download, go to the Downloads page and swipe on the show to delete it.
